Shibu Soren<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Shibu Soren is an Indian politician who is the founder and current president of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM). He is the former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and has been a member of the Rajya Sabha since 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Soren was born into a Santhal family in the village of Soren Tola in Ranchi district, Bihar (now Jharkhand). He started his political career as a student leader and was the founder of the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) in 1972. The AJSU was a student organization that fought for the rights of the tribal people of Jharkhand.<\/p>\n<p>Soren was elected to the Bihar Legislative Assembly in 1977 and became the leader of the opposition in the assembly in 1980. He was arrested in 1983 for his involvement in the Jharkhand movement and was released in 1985.<\/p>\n<p>Soren formed the JMM in 1986 and led the party to victory in the 1990 Jharkhand Assembly elections. He became the first Chief Minister of Jharkhand in 1990.
