He was born in 1914 in the village of Siwani in the erstwhile princely state of Jind. He joined the Indian National Congress in 1930 and participated in the Quit India Movement. He was imprisoned several times by the British for his political activities.<\/p>\n<p>After independence, Chaudhary Bansi Lal held various ministerial positions in the Haryana government. He was the Chief Minister of Haryana for three terms. He was also the Governor of Punjab and Rajasthan.
