of India. It is responsible for conducting examinations for recruitment to various posts in the state government of Himachal Pradesh. The Commission also advises the government on matters relating to public service.<\/p>\n<p>Article 315 of the Constitution of India states that &#8220;Every state shall have a Public Service Commission for the state, and if the Rajya Sabha so directs, two or more states may have a joint Public Service Commission for those states.&#8221; The Commission is to consist of a Chairman and such number of members as the Governor may deem fit. The Chairman and members of the Commission are to be appointed by the Governor on the advice of the Chief Minister.<\/p>\n<p>The Commission is to be independent of the executive in the discharge of its functions. The Commission is to be guided by the principles of fairness and justice in the conduct of its examinations and in making its recommendations to the government.<\/p>\n<p>The Commission is to submit an annual report to the Governor, which is to be laid before the state legislature.
