Sheikh Abdullah.<\/p>\n<p>Sheikh Abdullah was a Kashmiri politician who served as the Prime Minister of Jammu and Kashmir from 1947 to 1953 and again from 1975 to 1982. He was also the President of the Constituent Assembly of Jammu and Kashmir from 1951 to 1957.<\/p>\n<p>Sheikh Abdullah was born in Sopore, Jammu and Kashmir, in 1905. He was educated at the Aligarh Muslim University and the University of Cambridge. After returning to Kashmir, he became involved in the independence movement. He founded the National Conference party in 1939.<\/p>\n<p>In 1947, Sheikh Abdullah led the movement for the accession of Jammu and Kashmir to India. He was appointed Prime Minister of Jammu and Kashmir in 1947. He played a key role in the drafting of the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n<p>In 1953, Sheikh Abdullah was arrested by the Indian government and imprisoned for 11 years. He was released in 1964 and allowed to return to Kashmir. He founded the Plebiscite Front party in 1972.<\/p>\n<p>In 1975, Sheikh Abdullah signed the Indira-Abdullah Accord with Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The accord restored Sheikh Abdullah to power in Kashmir. He was appointed Prime Minister of Jammu and Kashmir for the second time.<\/p>\n<p>Sheikh Abdullah died in 1982.
