The Act provides for reservation of one-third of the total number of seats for women in Panchayats at all levels, i.e., Gram Panchayat, Panchayat Samiti and Zila Parishad. The Act also provides for reservation of seats for women belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.<\/p>\n<p>In Jharkhand, 33% of the total number of seats in Panchayats are reserved for women.
