It was established in 1995 under the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Act, 1995. The LAHDC has a total of 30 members, out of which 26 are directly elected from the respective constituencies and 4 are nominated by the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n<p>The 26 directly elected members are elected from 26 constituencies, each of which represents a tehsil or sub-division in Ladakh.
