This means that the state is prone to earthquakes of moderate intensity. The state has experienced several earthquakes in the past, including a major earthquake in 1957 that killed over 1,000 people.<\/p>\n<p>Seismic zones are areas that have been classified according to their seismicity, or the likelihood of earthquakes occurring. Zone I is the least seismic zone, while Zone V is the most seismic zone.
