He was born in 1839 in the village of Khawzawl in the Mizoram state of India. He was the son of Chief Vanchhia and Chieftainess Lalthanpuii. Khuangchera was educated at the Welsh Mission School in Aizawl. He became a Christian in 1860.<\/p>\n<p>In 1872, Khuangchera was appointed as the chief of the Lushai Hills. He returned to the Lushai Hills and he continued to work for the betterment of his people.
