Bodh Gaya is one of the four holy sites related to the life of Gautama Buddha, the founder of Buddhism. The other three sites are Lumbini, where he was born; Sarnath, where he gave his first sermon; and Kushinagar, where he died.<\/p>\n<p>The Mahabodhi Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is located in Bodh Gaya. The temple was built in the 3rd century BCE by Emperor Ashoka. It is one of the most important Buddhist temples in the world.<\/p>\n<p>The Bodhi tree, under which Gautama Buddha attained enlightenment, is located in the Mahabodhi Temple complex.
