He was known as the &#8220;Chanakya of Kumaun&#8221; for his political acumen and his role in the Indian independence movement.<\/p>\n<p>Pande was born in 1886 in the village of Khirsu in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. He was educated at the Government High School in Almora and the Muir Central College in Allahabad. After graduating from college, he joined the Indian National Congress and became involved in the freedom struggle.<\/p>\n<p>Pande was a close associate of Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru. He was a member of the Constituent Assembly of India and played a key role in drafting the Indian Constitution. He was also a member of the first Lok Sabha of India.<\/p>\n<p>Pande was a strong advocate of social reform. He worked for the upliftment of the poor and the oppressed. He was also a strong advocate of women&#8217;s rights.<\/p>\n<p>Pande died in 1961 at the age of 75.
