He was a renowned physician, educationist, politician and social reformer. He played a key role in the establishment of the All India Institute of Hygiene and Public Health in Calcutta. He was also the founder of the Indian Medical Association.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Roy was a member of the Indian National Congress and served as the Chief Minister of West Bengal from 1937 to 1948. He was also the Governor of Orissa from 1948 to 1950.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Roy died on 1 July 1962.
