Nek Chand.<\/p>\n<p>Nek Chand Saini (1924\u00e2\u0080\u00932015) was an Indian artist, sculptor, and environmentalist who created the Rock Garden in Chandigarh, India. The Rock Garden is a sprawling complex of over 40 acres (16 ha) of gardens, sculptures, and buildings made from recycled materials. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Chandigarh.<\/p>\n<p>Nek Chand was born in a village in Punjab, India. He worked as a road inspector for the government of Punjab. In his spare time, he would collect stones and other materials from the roadside and build sculptures in his backyard. In 1957, he began to build a garden on a piece of land that he had acquired from the government. He worked on the garden in secret for over 18 years, until it was discovered in 1976.<\/p>\n<p>The Rock Garden is made from a variety of materials, including stones, broken glass, pottery, and metal. It is divided into several sections, each with its own theme.
