She moved to the United States in 1938 and became a naturalized citizen in 1943. She served in the Women&#8217;s Army Corps during World War II. After the war, she worked as a journalist and a photographer.<\/p>\n<p>In 1958, Chi Ha Lung was selected to be part of an expedition led by Admiral Richard Byrd to the North Pole. The expedition was sponsored by the United States Navy. The team left from Point Barrow, Alaska, on March 15, 1958. They traveled by dog sled and snowmobile.<\/p>\n<p>The team reached the North Pole on April 1, 1958. Chi Ha Lung was the first woman to reach the North Pole. She was 38 years old at the time.<\/p>\n<p>Chi Ha Lung&#8217;s achievement was a major milestone in the history of exploration. She was the first woman to reach both the North Pole and the South Pole. She was also the first Asian woman to reach the North Pole.<\/p>\n<p>Chi Ha Lung died in 2008 at the age of 88.
