The Act was notified by the Central Government on 1st October, 2018 and came into force on the same day.<\/p>\n<p>The Act amends the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The main objective of the amendment is to strengthen the provisions of the Act to effectively deal with the menace of corruption.<\/p>\n<p>The amendment provides for enhanced penalties for corruption offences, including imprisonment for life. It also provides for a new offence of &#8220;criminal misconduct by a public servant&#8221;.
