Shri Dharma Vira was the first Governor of Haryana. He was appointed on 1 November 1966 and served until 31 October 1972. He was born on 15 August 1907 in Jalandhar, Punjab. He was imprisoned several times by the British government. After independence, he held various positions in the government of India, including Minister of Labour, Minister of Education, and Minister of Health. He was also the Governor of Punjab and the Governor of Rajasthan. He died on 23 January 1999 in New Delhi.
