Narayan Dutt Tiwari was the first Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. He was born on 1 November 1925 in Nainital, Uttarakhand, India. He was a member of the Indian National Congress (INC) political party. He served as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand from 9 November 2000 to 23 May 2002. He was also the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh from 1976 to 1977, 1985 to 1988, and 1992 to 1995. He was a member of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament, from 1962 to 1967 and from 1972 to 1976. He was also a member of the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament, from 1977 to 1980, 1980 to 1984, 1989 to 1991, and 1996 to 1998.
