The correct answer is Rajendra Singh.
Rajendra Singh became the first officer from the Indian Coast Guard cadre to head the force when he took charge as Director General in February 2016. Prior to him, the Director General of the Indian Coast Guard was always an officer deputed from the Indian Navy.
The Indian Coast Guard was established in 1978. The appointment of an officer from the Coast Guard’s own cadre as its chief marked a significant step in the force’s development and independent identity.
