Section 129 of the Jammu and Kashmir Constitution deals with the appointment and term of office of members of the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC).
The Section states that the JKPSC shall consist of a Chairman and such number of other members not exceeding six as the Governor may, by order, fix. The Chairman and members of the JKPSC shall be appointed by the Governor on the recommendation of a Selection Committee consisting of the Chief Minister, the Minister in charge of Personnel, Law and Justice and a person nominated by the Governor from amongst persons who are, or have been, Judges of the High Court.
The term of office of the Chairman and members of the JKPSC shall be six years from the date on which they enter upon their office or until they attain the age of sixty-two years, whichever is earlier.
The Chairman or any member of the JKPSC may, by writing under his hand addressed to the Governor, resign his office. The Governor may, by order, remove from office the Chairman or any member of the JKPSC, if he is satisfied that the Chairman or member, as the case may be, has become incapable of properly discharging the functions of his office or has been guilty of misconduct.
The Chairman or any member of the JKPSC shall not be eligible for further appointment to any office under the State Government after the expiry of his term of office.
