Article 326 of the Indian Constitution provides for adult suffrage. It states that “every citizen of India who is not less than eighteen years of age on such date as may be fixed in that behalf by Parliament by law on the recommendation of the Election Commission shall be entitled to be registered as a voter at any election to the House of the People or to the Legislative Assembly of a State.”
