Rameshwar Singh Kashyap was awarded the Padma Shri in 1991. He was a freedom fighter and social worker from the Indian state of Bihar. He was born in 1912 in the village of Kashyap in the district of Darbhanga. He started his career as a teacher, but later became involved in the freedom struggle. He was arrested several times by the British government for his activities. After independence, he worked for the upliftment of the poor and the marginalized. He was also a member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly. He died in 2000 at the age of 88.
