The least populous district of Sikkim is North Sikkim. It has a population of 27,821 as of 2011. The district is located in the northern part of the state and is bordered by Nepal to the north, China to the east, and West Sikkim district to the south. The district is home to the Kanchenjunga National Park, which is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Sikkim.
The other three districts of Sikkim are East Sikkim, West Sikkim, and South Sikkim. East Sikkim is the most populous district with a population of 536,408. West Sikkim is the second most populous district with a population of 391,182. South Sikkim is the third most populous district with a population of 347,391.
North Sikkim is the least developed district of Sikkim. The district has a low literacy rate and a high poverty rate. The main occupation of the people in the district is agriculture. The district is also home to a number of ethnic groups, including the Lepchas, Bhutias, and Limbus.
