Pratip Chaudhuri is an Indian banker who served as the 20th Chairman of the State Bank of India (SBI) from 2011 to 2017. He was the first non-government nominee to head the bank in its 138-year history.

Chaudhuri was born in 1950 in Kolkata, West Bengal. He graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, with a degree in electrical engineering in 1971. He then joined the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and served in various positions in the government of India.

In 1992, Chaudhuri joined the SBI as a Deputy General Manager. He rose through the ranks and became the Managing Director of the bank in 2006. In 2011, he was appointed as the Chairman of the SBI.

Chaudhuri is credited with transforming the SBI into a modern and customer-friendly bank. He also played a key role in the merger of five associate banks and Bharatiya Mahila Bank with the SBI.

Chaudhuri retired as the Chairman of the SBI in 2017. He is currently the Chairman of the board of directors of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
