O.P. Jindal, a prominent industrialist and politician, was from Hisar district in Haryana. He was born on 5 July 1937 in village Rai in Hisar district. He was the founder and chairman of Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL). He was also the founder and chairman of OP Jindal Group, a multinational conglomerate with interests in steel, power, mining, infrastructure, and education.
O.P. Jindal was a member of the Indian National Congress (INC) and served as a member of the Rajya Sabha from 2002 to 2012. He was also the Minister of Steel in the Manmohan Singh government from 2009 to 2012.
O.P. Jindal died on 19 November 2009 in New Delhi at the age of 72. He was survived by his wife, Savitri Jindal, and three children.
