Manipur is currently divided into 9 districts:

• Bishnupur
• Chandel
• Churachandpur
• Imphal East
• Imphal West
• Kangpokpi
• Senapati
• Tamenglong
• Thoubal

The state was previously divided into 6 districts, but this was increased to 9 in 2017. The new districts were created in order to improve administrative efficiency and to provide better services to the people of Manipur.
