Loktak Lake is situated in the state of Manipur. It is the largest freshwater lake in Northeast India and is famous for its unique floating islands called ‘phumdis’. Loktak Lake is home to the Keibul Lamjao National Park, the world’s only floating national park, which is the last natural habitat of the endangered Sangai (Manipur brow-antlered deer). The lake plays a vital role in the ecology and economy of Manipur.
