Pandit Birju Maharaj (Brijmohan Mishra) was a renowned Kathak dancer and exponent of the Kalka-Bindadin Gharana of Lucknow. He belonged to the famous Maharaj family of Kathak dancers.

He was awarded the Padma Vibhushan in 1986. He passed away on January 17, 2022. The other prominent Gharanas of Kathak include Jaipur, Banaras, and Raigarh.
