India’s first all-girls’ Sainik School, named ‘Samvid Gurukulam Girls Sainik School’, was inaugurated in January 2024 at Vrindavan, Mathura district, Uttar Pradesh.

The inauguration was part of the initiative to allow girls to join Sainik Schools, promoting inclusivity in defense education. It was inaugurated by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

Sainik Schools are joint ventures between the central government and state governments/UT administrations. They are established to prepare students for entry into the National Defence Academy (NDA) and the Indian Naval Academy (INA).
