The state has a favorable climate for apple cultivation, with cool winters and warm summers. The main apple-growing areas are Kullu, Shimla, Kinnaur, and Lahaul-Spiti. The state produces about 1.5 million tonnes of apples annually.
Mangoes are also grown in Himachal Pradesh, but on a smaller scale than apples. The main mango-growing areas are Kangra, Chamba, and Sirmaur. The state produces about 100,000 tonnes of mangoes annually.
