The correct answer is (c).
The Swaran Singh Committee was a committee set up by the Government of India in 1976 to review the working of the Constitution of India. The committee recommended the inclusion of Fundamental Duties in the Constitution.
The Fundamental Duties are a set of obligations that are placed on all citizens of India. They are intended to promote a sense of national unity and integration, to uphold the sovereignty and integrity of India, to protect the unity and integrity of the nation, to defend the country and render national service when called upon to do so, to promote harmony and the spirit of common brotherhood amongst all the people of India transcending religious, linguistic, regional or sectional diversities, to renounce practices derogatory to the dignity of women, to value and preserve the rich heritage of our composite culture, to protect and improve the natural environment including forests, lakes, rivers and wildlife, to develop scientific temper, humanism and the spirit of inquiry and reform, to safeguard public property and to strive towards excellence in all spheres of individual and collective activity.
The Fundamental Duties were added to the Constitution of India by the 42nd Amendment in 1976. They are not enforceable in a court of law, but are nevertheless fundamental in the governance of the country.
