The correct answer is A) Sub-section (3) of Section 6. Section 6 of the RTI Act deals with the making of requests for information.
Section 6(3) explicitly states that “Where an application is made to a public authority requesting for an information, โ€” (i) which is held by another public authority; or (ii) the subject matter of which is more closely connected with the functions of another public authority, the public authority, to which such application is made, shall transfer the application or such part of it as may be appropriate to that other public authority and inform the applicant immediately about such transfer”.
The transfer of application under Section 6(3) must be made as soon as practicable, but in no case later than five days from the date of receipt of the application. This provision ensures that a request is not rejected merely because it was addressed to the wrong public authority, placing the onus of directing it correctly on the receiving authority.
