Lance Naik Hanmanthappa Koppad of the 19th Battalion, Madras Regiment, was one of the ten soldiers buried under an avalanche at the Siachen Glacier in February 2016. He was miraculously rescued alive after six days but tragically passed away later in the hospital due to multiple organ failure.
