Maj. Gen. K. S. Himmat Singh was the first Lt. Governor of Himachal Pradesh from 1952 to 1956. He was born in 1908 in the village of Kotla, Himachal Pradesh. He joined the Indian Army in 1929 and served in the Second World War. After the war, he was appointed as the Military Secretary to the Governor of Punjab. In 1952, he was appointed as the first Lt. Governor of Himachal Pradesh. He served in this position till 1956. He died in 1982.
