Jasia Akhtar became the first woman of Jammu and Kashmir to be selected in the Indian Women’s National Hockey Team.
Akhtar was born in 1992 in the village of Nowshera in the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. She started playing hockey at the age of 10 and quickly rose through the ranks.
