In January 2008, Saina Nehwal won the Senior’s Championship match of badminton held in Goa. She defeated her opponent, Maria Kristin Yulianti of Indonesia, in straight sets. This was Nehwal’s first major international title. She went on to become one of the most successful badminton players in the world.
