The 36th National Games of India were held in Gujarat from 27 January to 12 February 2022. The games were inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. A total of 36 sports were contested at the games, with 3,200 athletes from 36 states and union territories participating.
Goa was the host of the 35th National Games in 2015. Madhya Pradesh hosted the 34th National Games in 2011. Haryana hosted the 33rd National Games in 2009.
