Punjabchief minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Monday announced a scheme Mera Ghar Mere Naam to grant proprietary rights to the people living in houses within the Lal Lakir of villages and cities. The entire exercise in this regard will be completed within two months, he said.<\/p>\n
Channi told media persons after the cabinet meeting, that earlier this scheme was launched only for the residents of villages, which is now being extended to the eligible residents of the cities within the Lal Lakir. He said the revenue department has been mandated to undertake drone surveys of such residential properties both in rural and urban areas for digital mapping. Subsequently, all the eligible residents after proper identification and verification would be given the property cards to confer proprietary rights upon them.<\/p>\n
The scheme was brought in earlier for villages, but it did not work out as planned. Now we will extend it to urban areas too. The revenue department will use drones for this exercise to make maps.
