The MP despite this dip in MMR continued to be in the worst three performing states in the country behind<u>Assam<\/u>(205) and<u>Uttar Pradesh<\/u>(167), showed a bulletin released in March.<\/p>\n<p>Maternal death is a death of a woman while pregnant or within 42 days of termination of pregnancy, irrespective of the duration and site of the pregnancy, from any cause related to or aggravated by the pregnancy or its management but not from accidental or incidental causes. And, the Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) is defined as the number of maternal deaths during a given time per 100,000 live births during the same time.<\/p>\n<p>SRS bulletin further showed that MP along with eight others continued to remain in Empowered Action Group (EAG) of states, which cumulatively had an <a href=\"https:\/\/exam.pscnotes.com\/average\">Average<\/a> MMR of 145 that was way higher than national average of 103.<\/p>\n<p>In all states in the country, Madhya Pradesh along with Uttar Pradesh have the highest 14.7% maternal mortality rate i.e., maternal death in pregnant <a href=\"https:\/\/exam.pscnotes.com\/women\">Women<\/a> of reproductive age group, showed bulletin.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Madhya Pradeshhas reported a ten-point dip in maternal mortality ratio to take it down to 163 in 2017-19, shows a special bulletin of sample registration system on maternal deaths released recently.
