Crocodilians are a team of reptiles that consists of crocodiles, alligators, caimans, and more.<\/p>\n<p> <strong><u>Highlights:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>India has three species of Crocodilians namely:<\/p>\n<p>Gharial (Gavialis gangeticus): <a href=\"https:\/\/exam.pscnotes.com\/iucn\">IUCN<\/a> Red List- Critically Endangered<br \/> Mugger crocodile (Crocodylus palustris): IUCN- Vulnerable.<br \/> Saltwater crocodile (Crocodylus porosus): IUCN- Least Concern.<\/p>\n<p>All the three are listed on Appendix I of <a href=\"https:\/\/exam.pscnotes.com\/cites\">CITES<\/a> and Schedule I of the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972.<\/p>\n<p>Exception: Saltwater Crocodile populations of Australia, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea are included in Appendix II of CITES.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Odisha introduced a award of Rs. 1,000 to preserve gharials in Mahanadi River Basin.
