Though required to constitute medical boards under the Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) Act to diagnose any substantial foetal anomaly, the state ofMaharashtra<\/u>has not done so thus far.<\/p>\n
The HC noted that under the amendedMTP Act<\/u>of 2021, the limitation to terminate a pregnancy, while extended from 20 to 24 weeks, carves out an exception in cases of foetal abnormalities.<\/p>\n
The medical board has to consist of a gynaecologist, a paediatrician, a radiologist and other members notified by the state, says the amended Act which under section 2 (c) requires every state to notify the board.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
