Chief Minister Yogi Adityanaths efforts to empower Women<\/a> received a major boost as six out of the 17 BJP mayors elected to municipal corporations are women.<\/p>\n

The Bharatiya Janata Party fielded six female candidates for the position of mayor and all emerged victorious.<\/p>\n

Besides, the candidate who received the highest number of votes and the one who won by the biggest are also women.<\/p>\n

The Yogi governments Mission Shakti is accomplishing the dream of half the Population<\/a> not only in Society<\/a> but also in politics. Be it assembly, or the civic bodies , the government is providing women with a level playing field, allowing them to prove their worth, BJP vice-president Vijay Bahadur Pathak said here on Monday.<\/p>\n

Sushma Kharwal got maximum votes of more than five lakh in Lucknow while Sunita Dayal of Ghaziabad defeated the BSP candidate with the highest margin of 2.87 lakh votes.<\/p>\n

Hemlata Diwakar from Agra, Kamini Rathore from Firozabad, Pramila Pandey from Kanpur, Sunita Dayal from Ghaziabad and Archana Verma from Shahjahanpur have got the distinction of becoming the first citizens.<\/p>\n

Hemlata Diwakar defeated the BSP candidate with a margin of over 1.88 lakh votes while Kanpurs Pramila Pandey won the electoral battle with a margin of over 1.77 lakh votes.<\/p>\n
