Asserting that it is essential to curb the practice of child marriage at all levels to achieve greater personal freedom and choice, the report points out that states like West Bengal, Bihar, and Tripura have the highest Percentage<\/a> of Women<\/a> married before 18 years at 41.6, 40.8 and 40.1, respectively.<\/p>\n

The index covering 36 states and UTs and 707 districts made by the Institute for Competitiveness and Social Progress Imperative was submitted to the Economic Advisory Council- Prime Minister (EAC-PM) and released in the Capital.<\/p>\n

The Index draws its analysis on early marriages from National Family Health<\/a> Survey-5 (2019-21) as part of its assessment in one section of the report on the dimension of “personal freedom and choice” which takes into account performance of districts based on indicators related to Child Labour<\/a>, kidnapping and abduction, early marriages, and family planning.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
