With a favourable Climate<\/a> and condition, Chhattisgarh is now self-dependent in spices.<\/p>\n

The production of spices totalled more than four lakh tonnes.<\/p>\n

Also, now coriander seeds were being supplied from Chhattisgarh to other states.<\/p>\n

The Climate of Chhattisgarh<\/a> favours the production of spices. This is why its cultivation is continuously increasing in the state.<\/p>\n

Turmeric, ginger, red chili, carom seeds, tamarind and garlic are cultivated. Turmeric, coriander, fenugreek, garlic, chili and ginger are cultivated in almost all areas of Chhattisgarh.<\/p>\n

The Communication<\/a> said spices were currently cultivated in Chhattisgarh on 66,081 hectares and about 4.50 lakh tonnes of spices have been produced.<\/p>\n

The area under cultivation and production of turmeric is highest in Chhattisgarh among other spices. It is followed by ginger, coriander, garlic, chili and tamarind.<\/p>\n

For the cultivation of spices, farmers are provided assistance under the National Horticulture<\/a> Mission, National Agricultural Scheme and other schemes.<\/p>\n

Under the National Horticulture Mission, spices have been cultivated on 13,302 hectares of land in 24 districts and 93,114 tonnes have been produced.<\/p>\n

In the last four years, spices were cultivated in 1,837.29 hectares under the National Agricultural Development Scheme. About 3,500 farmers have benefitted from the schemes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
