A week after Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai claimed that panchayat samitis inJat taluka’s villages in Sangli district had passed a resolution for a merger with Karnataka over the Maharashtra government’s failure to provide them water, chief minister Shinde on Monday approved a Rs 2,000 crore expansion plan for Mhaisal Irrigation<\/a> project, which will bring 48 villages under irrigation.<\/p>\n
