The Irrigation<\/a> department has decided to approach the 23 gram panchayats along theKhadakwasladam to intensify vigil in their areas to restrict people from entering water risking their lives.<\/p>\n

The department also wants the panchayats to install caution boards on roads or paths leading to the dam water. The advisory is being issued following the recent incident of drowning of two girls in the Khadakwasla backwaters.<\/p>\n

The Khadakwasla dam near the city has become a picnic spot. Footfall along the dam goes up significantly on weekends and on holidays.
