(POCSO)<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, girls accounted for 94% of the total 1,197 cases. There were 721 rape cases and 376 sexual assault cases among these.<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, 42% of all rape incidents were committed against minors under the age of 18, compared to 47% in 2018 and 45% in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The age group of 12 to 18 years had the highest number of rape victims (620 out of 721 in 2020). Offenders were known to be victims in 95 per cent of all rape instances.<\/p>\n<p>According to the POCSO Act, 93% of the 67 instances against boys were unnatural offences. The low proportion of reported male cases compared to overall cases indicates the stigma associated with reporting sexual offences against men.<\/p>\n<p>According to the data, just 28% of the IPC cases examined in 2020 had a charge sheet filed.
