The standing committee report on ‘Nano-Fertilisers for Sustainable Crop production and Maintaining Health<\/a>‘ has raised concerns over the excessive use of conventional urea and continuous increase in itsimport of ureaover the years, which rose from 5.5 million tonnes (MTs) in 2016-17 to 9.8 MTs in 2020-21, the panel has said the subsidy burden on account of urea import constitutes 26% of the overall urea subsidy paid in a year by the government.<\/p>\n

The panel has also recommended the government to put in place a system to sell one bottle of nano urea and four bags of urea to farmers instead of five bags of the conventional soil nutrient.
