India successfully launched Supersonic Missile Assisted Release of Torpedo System (SMART) On 13 December from Abdul Kalam Island, off the Odisha coast<\/p>\n

Highlights:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

The mission successfully demonstrated the full range capability of the missile.<\/p>\n

The SMART system has been developed to improve anti-submarine warfare power past traditional torpedo ranges.<\/p>\n

This was a textbook launch, in which the entire course of the test<\/a> was observed by the electro-optic telemetry system and several range radars, which includes downrange instrumentation & down range ships.<\/p>\n

SMART carried a torpedo, escape mechanisms and parachute delivery system.<\/p>\n

It was established from a ground mobile launcher and can cover a range of distances.<\/p>\n
