In its first attempt to map the wetlands ofBihar<\/u>, the Environment<\/a>, forest and https:\/\/exam.pscnotes.com\/<\/a>Climate<\/a>-change”>Climate Change<\/a> (DEFCC) department has identified 133 water bodies to prepare documents and ecosystem Health<\/a> report card to provide them legal protection under theWetland Protection Rules<\/u>.<\/p>\n

The Bihar State Wetland Authority (BSWA) has started the survey work on the wetlands spread over more than 100 hectares with focus on three areas area of the wetland, hydrology and catchments, Biodiversity<\/a> and Governance<\/a>. The imaging of such wetlands was done with the help of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). The wetlands will be examined in different phases by the forest officials, environmentalists, wetland and water experts.<\/p>\n

The ecosystem health score between 1 and 0.91 is considered very good (rank A), 0.90 and 0.81 good (B), 0.80 and 0.71 moderate (C), 0.70 and 0.61 low (D), and 0.60 and below very low (E).<\/p>\n

Of 133 wetlands, maximum 14 is inVaishali<\/u><\/a>, 12 each in East Champaran, Samastipur and Katihar, 10 each in Saran and Darbhanga, eight in Siwan, seven each in Khagaria and Muzaffarpur, six in Saharsa and five each in Banka and Jamui.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
