The https:\/\/exam.pscnotes.com\/<\/a>national-human-rights-commission”>National Human Rights<\/a> Commission<\/a><\/a> (NHRC) has directed the State Revenue and Disaster Management<\/a><\/a> Department Principal Secretary to take appropriate action to compensate and rehabilitate the displaced people due to execution of Hirakud Dam in accordance with applicable law.<\/p>\n

The NHRC has passed the final order adjudicating a petition and subsequent rejoinders filed by Supreme Court lawyer and rights activist Radhakanta Tripathy and the reports submitted by the Governments of Odisha and Chhattisgarh.<\/p>\n

The petition stated that even after seventy years, the rehabilitation of the 26,561 families displaced for construction of Hirakud Dam project is yet to be completed.<\/p>\n

Pursuant to the directions of the NHRC, the State of Odisha submitted that total 3,500 HLO claimants for provision of house site patta have been allocated homestead land in the district and the number of cases attended in the last one year is more than 1,700. Villages like Jharapara and Ankali were within the outer bound of 632RL; therefore it may not be possible for the Resources<\/a>“>Water Resources<\/a> Department to relinquish the acquired land.<\/p>\n

Total Rs 54,07,082 has already been paid as an ex-gratia compensation to 638 beneficiaries in Jharsuguda district. 213 DC patta holders are not traceable and 51DC patta holders died, the report stated. Total 2,508 DC pattas have been allotted in Sambalpur and 2,244 DC pattas have already been regularised in Jharsuguda district. No application for demarcation of DC patta is pending in Jharsuguda district.<\/p>\n

Regarding survey of UN<\/a>-surveyed village, the Revenue and Disaster Management Department vide notification dated 08.09.2021 has already notified for conduct of special survey and settlement and preparation of record of rights with respect to all lands lying in the limits of these villages.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
