To deal with the overcrowding inUttar Pradeshjails, theYogi Adityanathgovernment has decided to construct 20 new, hi-tech jails in the state, including one each in 11 districts that do not have any prison at present.<\/p>\n
On the instructions of CM Yogi, a hugebudgethas been released for the task and the prisons department has been given the green signal to go ahead with the works.<\/p>\n
The eleven districts which will get a new jail each for the first time include Amethi and Mahoba (with a capacity of 990 inmates each), Kushinagar, Chandauli, Auraiya, Hapur, Sambhal, Amroha and Bhadohi (with a capacity of 1,000 inmates each), Hathras (1,026) and Shamli (2000). At the same time, the process of construction of a second district jail for 1000 inmates has started in Lalitpur. Besides, funds have been approved for the repair and renovation of Bareillys old jail, which will have a capacity of 2,579 prisoners.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
